Kingsolver, Barbara (1955-)

Barbara Kingsolver is an American author and political activist. Her best known novels concern the endurance of people living in harsh circumstances.

Growing up in Kentucky, she was the daughter of a physician that treated the rural poor. The author recently said she 'loves fiction that educates me on the sly, especially about something I didn't realise I wanted to know.'
