Kate Mulvany is an Australian playwright and actor. She has played lead roles with many major theatre companies as well as appearing on television and in film. Her play The Seed won the Philip Parsons Young Playwrights Award in 2004. She successfully adapted the Craig Silvey book Jasper Jones for the stage, and it has been performed successfully in Perth at the Barking Gecko Theatre Company, in Sydney at the Belvoir Theatre Company, and in Melbourne by the Melbourne Theatre Company.
Diagnosed with cancer as a two-year-old child, she has said 'you and your family don't sweat the small stuff.' She credits this experience to give her rigour, determination, and discipline to succeed in a very demanding career.
