Morbidity and Mortality in Australia

It has been reported that 78% of the Australian population suffer from one or more long term conditions that affected their health for six months or more. The four main causes of of mortality and morbidity in Australia are:

  • Cardiovascular disease (CVD): stroke, heart attack and hypertension
  • Cancer : lung, breast, skin, prostate and cervical
  • Injuries : motor vehicle accidents, suicide and poisonings
  • Respiratory diseases : emphysema, bronchitis and asthma
