Immigration to Australia in the 20th Century

Australia is one of the most culturally diverse nations in the world. Within a population of over 25 million people (2020), over 400 languages are spoken, with English as the common and official language. Over a quarter of the population was born in another country. The story of Australia's growth as a modern country in the twentieth century is closely tied to those stories of the nearly 7 million migrants who have travelled from across the globe since World War II (1939-45) to make Australia their new home.

Assessment Task - Year 10 History & Geography

The purpose of this assessment is to allow students to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the ways in which the waves of immigration to Australia have affected and changed the cultural and social landscape of Australia. Students will demonstrate research by providing a reference list in the Harvard style, and explain the significance of their selected immigration wave in an audio-visual format.

Harvard style referencing resources can be found on the Library's Study Skills page.
