Edmund Rice and the Christian Brothers

"Be constant in prayer and whatever will happen will turn to our good. Place all your cares in the hands of Divine Providence.

Blessed Edmund Rice

Edmund Rice (1762-1844) was an Irishman who founded the Christian Brothers and the Presentation Brothers. These were religious communities of Catholic men who established an inclusive system of education for underprivileged youth. His vision has extended beyond the classroom and into the broader community.

Edmund Rice was beatified by Pope John Paul II in 1996 and his work continues to find fresh avenues through the many ministries associated with the Christian Brothers.
