Robert Frost was born in San Francisco but on the death of his father he moved to New England, another area in America.  This was the home of his ancestors and he remained their all of his life, except for three years in England from 1912-1915.

Frost won the Pulitzer Prize for poetry four times: 1924, 1931, 1937 and 1943.  He is considered to be one of the major poets of the twentieth century and is often called a 'New England nature poet'.  Yet his is more than this as his poetry ranges from the short lyrical poem to the longer dramatic and narrative types.  He uses the technique of monologue that moves toward an understanding of a spiritual or psychological moment in time.
